General Insurance Claims

Motor Vehicle Accident

1.    Notify police immediately.
2.    Notify insurance company, broker or agent.
3.    Take the vehicle to a garage on the panel.
4.    We will then appoint an assessor to determine the extent of damage.
5.    Provide the following documents for us to confirm circumstances before issuing repair authority.

  • Duly completed claim form.
  • Police Abstract Report.
  • Copy of driving license.

6.    We use the following to issue repair authority:

  • Motor assessors report.
  • In some cases the Investigation Report.
  • Confirmation of full premium settlement.

7.    On completion of repairs, an assessment will be done.
8.    Excess must be paid before the vehicle is released.
9.    The insured signs a satisfaction note on release of the vehicle.
10.    In the event that the vehicle is written off, the process below applies;

Theft cases/ Written off Vehicles

1.    Notify police immediately.
2.    Notify insurance company, broker or agent.
3.    Provide the following documents for us to confirm circumstances before issuing repair authority:-

a.    Duly completed claim form.
b.    Police Abstract Report.
c.    Copy of driving license.
d.    Copy of antitheft device fitted for theft cases.
e.    Copy of logbook to prove ownership.

4.    An investigator will be appointed to determine the circumstances of loss.
5.    An assessor will be appointed to confirm the pre-accident/theft value of the vehicle.
6.    When all is in order, a settlement offer will be made to the insured.

Windscreen / Radio Cassette

  1. Take a photograph of the damaged windscreen or radio cassette showing the vehicle registration number.
  2. Report using a completed claim form with an attached photograph and replacement and ETR receipt.
  3. Where not replaced, we will issue a replacement letter on receipt of the above documents.

 

Personal Accident

Notify the insurance company immediately, and provide the following documents:

  • Claim form and medical certificate duly completed.
  • Original Medical bills/ receipts.
  • Claimant/Witness statements.

For fatal accidents, provide the following additional documents:-

  • Original Death certificate.
  • Burial permit.
  • Post Mortem Report.

Workmen’s Compensation

Notify the insurance company immediately, and provide the following documents:

  • Duly completed claim form.
  • Copy of the current wage-roll.
  • 4 months payslips of the claimant prior to the injury.
  • Copy of the injured employee appointment letter.
  • Copy of letter notifying the director of labour of the injury.
  • Dosh 1.
  • Medical bills.
  • ID card copy.

For fatal accidents, provide the following additional documents:-

  • Original Death certificate.
  • Burial permit.
  • Post Mortem Report.

Theft or Damage to Property

1.    Notify the insurance company immediately
2.    Provide the following documents

  • Claim form duly completed.
  • Police Abstract Report for theft.
  • Original purchase receipts

3.    In some instances, we will appoint a loss adjuster to provide a report before we make an offer.

Medical Claims Procedure

The insured is required to give us prior notification for all cases of planned surgery and/or admission for pre-authorization. Emergency admissions will be authorized at admission. Reimbursement of medical expenses will only be made in cases of a genuine emergency where an appointed service provider is not accessible or available.
